SNOW DAYS!

So if you haven't already heard we had a huge snow storm. I've been told that 1978 was actually the last time a storm like this came through Ohio. It snowed for almost 24 hours straight starting on Friday until about 7pm Saturday night. It would have been no worse than any snow storm we were used to in Utah however, they don't plow the roads here so it was bad. Since they don't get snow like this here often they actually have storm warnings: Level 2 means the roads are hazardous and you shouldn't drive unless you have to. If it elevates to a Level 3, you can actually get a ticket for being on the roads! EVERYTHING closes down and nobody drives on the roads. With the winds picking up they even had it as a blizzard warning so..... you can see why people here kind of freak out. Even the plows get scared to go out I guess! Friday they completely closed one freeway because 5 semi's wrecked. They cancelled me being on call for work Saturday night because it was too dangerous to go out, they even cancelled our enrichment and church this morning!! I kept telling my family how jealous I was of all the snow in Utah - no more complaining now!
I made it home safe from work Friday night (took me 1 hour and usually only takes 15min) but then haven't left the house since. Raquel braved the weather, against the warnings (we Utahns know how to drive in the snow right!!) and came over. She barely made it, and once she got here it really wasn't safe to leave so we had a sleepover - yay so much fun!! She brought her puppy Boxer and now "the girls" have a new boyfriend to fight over :) It was nice having her here because Shayne was studying at a friends and got "stuck" there so he ended up having a sleepover too.
To pass the time we made lots of cards, chatted and sang to our hearts content, watched and laughed as the dogs played (videos to come as soon as I can get them to work) and watched some fun movies. Thanks Raquel for such a fun time while we were stuck inside!
This is how high the snow was when I woke up Saturday - it still snowed the rest of the day, you get the idea!
It's hard to tell from this pic but if you look the road is between the end of this shoveled area and the other condos - not plowed at all, just as high as the rest!
This is kind of blurry but you can see how much there was and this was still just Saturday morning!
I had to take a picture of my finished product. I shoveled this whole bad boy so Raquel could pull in. I paid for it the next morning (I could hardly move my back hurt so bad) and despite my efforts Raquel got stuck coming in anyway because of all the snow on the road (A neighbor had to help us dig her out!)
Belle and Zoey's new boyfriend - BOXER!!
Here are just a few of the cards I made over the last 2 days. What do you think am I getting any better? I sure hope so!!

I can only imagine how people panicked. I have seen them in a dusting of snow there and not knowing how to drive. Colombus isn't known for their good drivers! How fun to be snowed in for a weekend though.

I got your message the other night but my message was not making any sense so you wouldn't have understood it anyway.... ha ha I am glad that you had a good time snowed in. I told you about the weekend that we got 16 inches of snow? Oh boy... It is the worst winter here in 19 years... I am so lucky! :)

THANK YOU for letting me bug you the whole weekend! I had such a good time, it's been a long time since I've had a sleepover! It was worth getting stuck in the snow!

Looks like fun! I know I'd rather be snowed in making cards than snowed in at the hospital like I was! And yes, your cards keep getting cuter and cuter!

I actually was just in D.C. a few weeks ago. Have you ever been? Things that are a must see...all of the monuments, the mall is awesome, if you can get a tour of the capitol that is really neat. ( I think you can call your local senators office to set it up) Mike said that a place called Adam's Morgan is really fun, lots of good restaurants, I have been there once, but it was seriously almost 10 years ago. If you haven't done the Holocaust museum, that is something to for sure see, and we went and saw the portrait museum this last time, and i loved it. My favorite part was the american presidents gallery.Have fun! I am coming out there in about a month to see my sister. We are going to see Riverdance while the hubbys watch the kiddos. FUn FUn.

I was thinking of you over the weekend. We had some wicked snow storms too, but nothing like it was south where you guys are at. I remember being in disbelief when I was sent to go home from work. That never happens!
BTW, your cards are darling. You must have a lot of fun things for card making.
