Spring Break & Easter: warning long and lots of pics

We had quite the eventful Spring Break this last week. It started with our friends from NC, Sam & Amy, staying over for a few nights. It was so good to see them, and their little girl Grace is too cute. She couldn't get enough of our dogs and walked around saying dog (pronounced gog in her language) and doing the sign for them all day long (literally). If I can ever figure out how to upload my videos I will post it, it is so funny! Chef Amy gave me a few new good recipes and gave me some healthier food choices that I am excited to start having in my diet: hummus just to name one, who'd of thought I actually like the stuff. We were sad to see them leave but then Shayne's parents and Grandma came into town. They were here for the entire spring break and we were sad to see them go. I think this is the first time we have been home sick since being here. I knew it would happen eventually. We went to DC for most of the week and saw all the great sites and museums. Then, we came home for a few days to relax and recoup (running around DC is tiring). I felt like Easter didn't really happen this year. I think we were all just too tired to put in any effort but I was a little bummed - I missed all the traditions of the Easter bunny coming with baskets, hunting for eggs and coloring my lips with the candy eggs, and most of all dying eggs. We had a good sacrament service which was nice to reflect on the true reason for Easter - I am so grateful for the sacrifice of our Savior and the atonement. All in all, it was fun to get away and be with family and friends and....most importantly, to actually have my husband back for a whole week. Can't wait til June when he has another break!

We took the "scenic route" to DC but it didn't end up being very scenic seeing as everything was still brown. Along the way we shopped at some outlets and tried probably 3 different times to find the DC temple. We saw it from the freeway and snapped a pic but couldn't find the darn thing ever. Once home we showed Shayne's family around Columbus - the temple, Shayne's dental school etc. His parents are some of the only people we know that genuinely love White Castle. They were sad they didn't make it there, but we weren't complaining!

Yeah, Spring Break is always over way too fast! I know what ya mean about having your husband for a week...I never have a hubby during the weekdays, so it was a nice change! (even though he still had to work)! I agree that Spring needs to come and stay! Are you guys comin home for summer at all?

I love having fun places close enough around to visit and get out of Ohio. Glad your family came to visit again and that you were able to introduce them to Casa Fiesta--so yummy!
