Food + Fun + Friends = A Happy Birthday!

We just celebrated Shayne's birthday on Sunday. It was a nice quiet Sunday at home. Since his birthday was on a Sunday we did most of the celebrating on Saturday. Our good friend Jeremy's birthday was then too so we had a combined party for both of them at our pool. The weather was great and we had a lot of fun!

We had a bbq with lots of yummy food!

The girls did a lot of this!

While the guys did a lot of this

We have a nice area at the pool with a fenced in small kiddie area which made it nice for all the moms

This is the Richard's little girl, Taylee. I couldn't resist between the suit and her cute piggies she was so adorable!

Swimming with the dad's in the "big pool"

Birthday boys - Shayne and Jeremy

Make a Wish

I made Shayne's favorite cake and Ashley made Jeremy's - both were super yummy!

Lining up to start

Trying to get the watermelon, it looks a little sketchy but really there are no rules so anything goes!

Team Huddle

GAME OVER

The guys played one of Shayne's favorite pool games - Watermelon Rugby. If you have never heard of it here is a little synopsis. They divide up in teams and using a watermelon as the ball attempt to score points. The catch is that the watermelon is lubed with oil and they can't throw it under the water. There really are no rules for which to get the ball from others to keep others from scoring so it gets a little rough. It's hysterical to watch. If I could ever get a video to work on here I could actually show you. The game ends when the watermelon breaks open.

Just some more of the cute kiddos that were happy to pose for the camera. They happily took our balloons home! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEREMY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAYNE!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a bit random but we promised we would post some pics for Shayne's mom to see. If you know Shayne's mom she is the biggest dog lover there is. She has 3 of her own and is always watching other peoples or rescuing a stray. So....our dogs are the closest things she has to grandkids at this point (sad I know) needless to say they are a bit spoiled. She recently went to Hawaii and sent home these leis for our girls so we took a few pics. Thanks, they are so cute!

This is Belle, her immediate reaction was not a happy one. I can't say I wasn't surprised! She was pretty funny to watch while she tried to get it off.

She finally gave up since she new she couldn't get it off and look how cute she looks! She still doesn't look too happy - aren't we mean!

Not quite sure what Zoey's first reaction was but this is what she did, she just ran over and kind of "hid" by the pillow. Embarassed maybe, sad, scared? Who knows but it was cute!

She was fine with the idea of it after a minute, I think she knew she looked cute so she was flaunting it all over!

What the.... Watermellon Rugby?!? Okay, so I will admit that it sounds like a lot of fun! It reminds me of the crazy "mud football" activities in young womens. Now that is a GREAT game!

Sorry we missed the party. We were a little pre-occupied with our little one. NEXT year for sure.
